New birds include NEO a male Red Tailed Buzzard, WILLOW a young female Barn Owl who is a re homed "rescue" bird who is now part of our flying display team and BOOMER an aptly named female European Eagle Owl.

2010 into 2011 saw us grow with the addition of a number of new birds including ISCA a Gyr X Saker falcon Willow a Ferruginous Buzzard, Barn owls TANGO & ALBA and Woody the Tawny owl, BELLA and SNOWY as the names suggests are Snowy owls, JESSICA a European Buzzard who is an addition to our British Raptor display line up and MERLIN a Great Horned owl to name but a few of our new birds.

2009 was a busy year with a house move which meant the rebuilding of housing for 20 plus birds, new birds joining the team include Barn Owl, Bengal Eagle Owl and the introduction of two falcons into the team in the form of Taiha a stunning looking Gyr X Prarie Falcon and ISCA a Gyr X Saker falcon.

Our raptor rescue work has increased markedly over the last three years, birds recovered include both injured wild and lost falconry birds, the most unusual recovery that we were involved with was assisting in the recovery of Jackson a Turkey Vulture who was lost in North Hampton and turned up in Devon. The wild birds rescued to date this year have included a number of Buzzards, a young female Peregrine Falcon, Tawny owls, Barn owls. Sparrow Hawk and a rare Merlin.

Hi Steve many thanks for coming to our play day on Wednesday, it was great to meet you and your beautiful birds, I hope we will be able to see you again at some of our other events.
I'm chuffed to bits with my mug I bought from you, it actually keeps my coffee hot, I can't remember the last time I drank hot coffee my last mug always went cold in seconds! Thank you.
Kind Regards
Lenny Turner ~ Chairperson Wild Fox community development project

Just a quick note(albeit belated) to say thank you and say how much both Diana and I enjoyed and appreciated the spectacle of the birds of prey and owls on the afternoon we spent with you. We both felt it was a privilege to be so close to these beautiful animals
Thank you also for sharing some of your knowledge about the birds, we like the owl are now a little wiser.
We will both remember the experience for a long time
We wish you continued success and you definitely have our recommendation ~ Jerry & Diana Allen

Hello Steve,

Just to say a HUGE thank you from all of us at Wembury Primary - we really enjoyed your visit.

The children, and adults, were captivated by your owls and we learned such a lot about them.
For my Year 1 children in particular, the ‘close encounter’ with the owls added a wonderful dimension to our Literacy work on ‘Owl Babies’.
Many many thanks again and I’m sure we shall see you again at Wembury. Noelle Boucherat

Trust ~Exercise ~ Freedom of Flight

To keep all my Hawks and larger species of Owl active and exercised I train and fly them free on a regular basis, smaller species of owl are housed in large flights that give both room and space to allow full flight.

Education & Understanding

For the welfare of my birds, training and public education, I share my knowledge and experiences with those interested in Raptors and all aspects of Falconry.

 Hands on Approach

Working with and handling Hawks & Owls gives you that personal hands on approach and feel, you enjoy and take away memories of an ultimate experience that supports our aim of raptor education for all of those with an interest in Bird of Prey.

I work hard to ensure that you enjoy your experience, you will not be disappointed………..

Falconry techniques have been refined over centuries and passed down from many falconers. Your course will give you the opportunity to share in this knowledge and to interact with these magnificent birds of prey up close, before learning how to handle and fly them free. My birds are not trained to do tricks they fly as nature intended and are encouraged do what comes naturally to them.

Your course allows you to not only share in the knowledge and skills of Falconry, but offers you the excitement of a real hands on opportunity throughout your experience as you fly and handle both Hawks and Owls.

Your experience will begin with a general falconry input, including the laws relating to Birds Of Prey, then meeting different types of Raptors.

You will learn the fitting and use of falconry equipment, practice the early stages of training to flying birds free. This input is also suitable for those considering taking up Falconry or for those simply wanting hands on contact with Hawks and Owls.

As well as having a fun and entertaining time you will be made aware of the practical implications of owning a bird of prey.

A Unique opportunity to handle and fly these awe-inspiring raptors.

The perfect gift for all bird of prey enthusiasts! Learn and see why falconry became such a popular past time with Kings and aristocrats over those centuries past. Fly these magnificent birds over the South Hams and Dartmoor, in woodland and over farmland. Hunt rabbit and pheasant (in season) with Harris Hawks. With fantastic photo opportunities, it will be a perfect and truly unforgettable day.

Welcome to an inspiring and unique experience!

Imagine the thrill of being a

"Falconer for a day"

meeting Hawks and Owls closer than you have ever been before.

Experience the excitement of flying magnificent Birds of Prey and watch in awe as they follow and return to you

Based on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, I specialise in individual tuition or to small, informal groups where you the Guest(s) fly the birds under close supervision and guidance.

Treat yourself or someone special to a day you will remember forever.
